Tips on how to remove dog odour smell from your house

If you own a few dogs then you most certainly want to know more about getting rid of the smells. Lucky for us dog owners, there are more than a few ways to handle this problem. A few methods are available: prevention, removal, and even cover-up.

Prevention

Start with prevention. Prevention keeps dog odor out of the house to start with. Brushing your dog daily is the best way to begin getting rid of odor. Most people think bathing is the way to go but actually brushing is best. Brushing your dog every day keeps your dog clean and healthy.

Next, pick up the dog poop often, even daily. Buy scented doggy bags they seal up and give the garbage a nice scented smell. It makes your trash and backyard smell a little better and scented.

Also, be sure to wash doggy blankets and beds. They are big problem areas most the time. Try to wash them at least every week, your house will smell much better.

Cover-Up

There are many products on the market available to cover-up pet odors, such as dog perfumes. Perfumes are a personal favorite of mine. Just add a few drops to the back of the neck and near the tail and your dog will smell nice and fresh. They are good to use when your pet has gotten into something gross or in an emergency situation. They come in a variety of smells and last a couple days. They are good stuff.

For your home, you can buy vacuum powders that absorb the smell. Just sprinkle on the floor wait a few moments then vacuum it up and the smell should be gone. They don't really last too long so you really don't want to spend money on the really expensive stuff.

Odor Removal

Dogs have accidents. When they do of course, remove it immediately. Dry odors are a lot harder to remove than wet odors.

    * A good tip: get pet urine cleaner from a janitorial store and buy a big bottle. This stuff has a strange smell but once it cleans up the smell, the smell is gone forever.

Dry odors are the ones you cannot see any more. To fight these you need to get yourself a black light. Use the same cleaner you got from the janitor store. Enzyme cleaners from the pet store will break up urine stains and get rid of dog odors as well, so you might want to get some of that too.
