How to save your Horses from summer heat

A warm feeling? When the thermometer temperature rises, late therapeutic grade peppermint essential oil to cool you and your horse.
Tip # 1) sponge bath: I like just a drop or two of therapeutic grade essential oils in a bucket of cold water and then the horses give a sponge bath in the morning. Peppermint and lavender is my favorite oils. The horses are cool, calm and relatively bug free all day, even roast again!
2) Drinking water: Add a few drops of water trough for horses. Start with a single drop, so they get used to the taste for a few days. Most horses love the taste of Peppermint! Work your way up to a few drops of a drinker. This adds a refreshing, cooling effect that lasts longer than plain water.
3) Shampoo Bathrooms: Need a cool, clean horse? Add 1-2 drops peppermint on Animal Scents Shampoo for a cooling, soothing, chemical free bath.
4) Fog Nozzle: Spritz barn, horse trailer, DIG! Add 1-10 drops of peppermint on a 4 ounce glass spray bottle mixed with distilled water, Aloe Vera Juice and Witch Hazel for a moisturizing and refreshing lift.
5) Cool Ice: Freeze a container of water with a few drops at a great Peppermint Peppermint Ice Cube do. Use them in the water trough, water bucket or dish. For variation, add some horse treats, carrots, apples, etc. for your horse to go to the cube to encourage!
6) Cool Feet: Dab a few drops of peppermint around Coronet band.
7) Cool Feed: Use a few drops directly in your horses feed, mixed with a little water. Start with just one drop, so they get used to the taste. Increasing amounts over several feedings, when they adapt to the taste.
These are just a few of my favorite ways to help keep horses cool in the summer heat. Use your intuition and imagination of the perfect thing for you and your animals!
