Taking care of Dog nails

Dogs' nails are often broken, mostly a result of not keeping nails short enough. They need to be regularly cut if they are not natural to get worn down. Broken nails can be very painful. Your groomer or vet can cut the nails for you, or you can learn to cut your dog's nails yourself.
The easiest way is to get your puppy accustomed to having their feet handled regularly so they can sit still for this important part of grooming.
The nails should be clipped regularly. Use nail clippers made specifically for dogs. Keep the dog paw solid, cut nail with a single stroke. Be careful not to "fast" dog. (Fast blood in the wings). It may make you more comfortable to get just a little bit at the end and work your way back. You do not want to cut too much and makes your dog's bleeding. If you make them bleed, do not fret. You can stop the bleeding with some styptic powder that can be purchased at most major pet stores. Take just a little bit after cleaning out the blood and apply.
To say where to cut your dogs nails if they are dark in color, turn foot inside and look at where the nails are thick near the end. The thinner part of the nail is the new growth you can cut.
