OK ... Here are our questions:
dinner, "Would you pay" for two "at your local restaurant in exchange for a number of new contacts that can be added to your mortgage database?" I hope so, because it is an inexpensive way to get your name out there and more importantly, build your roster.
Simply contact the owner or manager of your local popular restaurant and offers to pay for a "dinner for two" every Mon You can put a fishbowl on a prominent place to collect business cards for the monthly drawing. Historically a fish bowl is the traditional container up and people recognize it as such ... so stick with the idea and buy a fish bowl (s).
Most restaurants like the idea because it means more work for them. They want to give you the few square feet you need to promote this idea. Some will even give you a coupon for the drawing. Do not forget to ask for a discount in controlling the final details of the campaign.
The fun part is ... you actually control the costs and implementation of the promotion by choosing restaurant (s) that suits your budget:
1. If you can afford to gourmet ... so go gourmet! 2. Add as many restaurants (fish) if you can afford. 3. Thinking outside the box and use the idea to your local hardware store, dry cleaning, florist, gift shop, car repair, oil change facility, or whatever. 4. If you can afford to twice a month or more drawings ... go for it. 5. If after a few drawings you see a significant drop in the number of new contacts, and only repeaters ... drop that location and find another.
Important ... Remember to empty the cards (keeping their source), so they do not become a temptation for other companies and your competitors. This is your marketing and your money ... The last thing we want is another person helping to build their list. Depending on traffic, a daily stop by and pick-up may be required.
Make a small sign announcing the name of the winner of last month, and place it near your fishbowl. Contact the winner and arrange delivery of the gift certificate. Do not forget to sign your name and company of the winner ... This is your chance for some free publicity.
Adding contact information for all your notes on your mortgage and work them into your database contact schedule. Since most of these are the business cards of professionals, you are now the proud owner of some nice details such as name, company, a business telephone number, fax number and email address.
The steps you take following the success of your efforts to ensure:
1. E-mail a letter or postcard to each of them thanking them for participating in the drawing. This is worthwhile, and an important first step.
2. Follow up with a phone call. Ask them if you can add your e-mail list and periodically send them mortgage and financial information. Be specific about the permission to add them to your email list ... as you will make it easier and cheaper to email campaign with a direct mail program. Always ask if you want information and news about the financing, refinancing or buying a home or investment property.
3. Maintaining a contact schedule that your name and business address means in their minds. Remember, you are building a relationship based on your knowledge, expertise and the trust they place in you as a result of this information.
This idea works ... It's a great way to build your list! Try ... you can fish at any time and more importantly ... Fishing is always good.
