Why one should not feed Tuna to Cat?

Even the most stoic cat owner has given in to their kitty meows when you notice a can of water packed tuna. Most cats go bonkers over. Here's some food for thought about why you should not canned tuna to feed your cat.
If your cat a little or a lot of canned tuna they quickly develop a craving for chicken of the sea treat. They quickly become fixated on the taste or smell and refuse to eat anything yet. Before you know it you are trying to get your kitten back to her regular canned cat food by mixing the tuna with it.
Apart from its newly acquired 'taste' for tuna there are a number of other reasons why you should not start on her tuna. First, fixed on a cat a dog food ingredient is a picky eater. Unfortunately, the food preferences are not demanding enough to ensure the nutritional needs of your cat's needs. Worse, if your cat to go on a special diet because of diabetes or cat bladder infection, you could very well be a cat who refuses to return to her diet recipe.
Secondly, the polyunsaturated fats in fish meat, especially red tuna, rancid in the body of a cat. Rancidification depletes vitamin E, leading to an inflammation of body fat. This is called pansteatis or "yellow fat" disease.
Thirdly, mercury issues. The dark meat of tuna is known to be a repository for mercury, a study by veterinarians at Cornell University showed that cats fed an exclusive diet of cat food tuna significant behavioral differences compared to a control group who ate a beef diet showed. Tuna fed cats were less pronounced, active and playful. While the study did not directly link the observed behavior of mercury is to prevent the risk.
Now, with all this caution, there are times that using water-based canned tuna is good for your cat. The main reason is if you have some form of medication to give, and you can take your cat when mixed with tuna. If you are trying to get your cat to eat or drink after an illness, it can take to eat a little tuna water dripped on. These are exceptions, and only for use in the very short term or extreme situations.
