Gather knowledge on different breeds of cat

While there are many varieties of cats, this article summarizes the more common varieties. Each race has different brands and many times it is easy to recognize. Cats are crossed in many years but still below the cats bred as a pure breed.
Russian is a silver-coated blue cat originally from Russia. The outer coat is coarse, while the undercoat is soft and fluffy. The body is thin and elongated and the eyes are usually dark green. The breed is very intelligent and playful but can be shy among strangers. The breed is very loyal to their owners.
Another variety is Abyssinian. The breed is believed to originate from Egypt. This breed is active, muscular and colorful. It is a medium in size with a soft, silky, dense fur. Her eyes are almond shaped, and are gold, hazel, green or copper color. Breed requires a lot of attention and is timid with strangers.
Burmese was originally from Thailand. It is medium and very muscular. Her eyes are gold or yellow. The Burmase were brown, but selective breeding has made it available in many colors. The coat is short with a satin-like finish. A Burmese are intelligent, playful and has an even temperament.
One of the oldest breeds, the Egyptian Mau. The Egyptian Mau is the only naturally spotted breed of domestic cats and fastest. While Mau is less than some cats, it's body shape and rear legs gives more flexibility and speed. Mau like warm temperatures. Mau is very loyal to his owner, but not to strangers.
Himalayan is a Persian-type cat. It is a long-haired cats require daily brushing. The color is vivid blue eyes and points of a Siamese, which separates it from the Persian. The legs are short to limit jumping performance. Temperament is sweet and it makes a good companion. It is intelligent and very active.
One of the major cat breed Maine Coon. It is based in Maine, where state cat. It is a long-haired cat that comes in many colors. It is a long coat is waterproof and shape of the toe makes it possible to walk on snow. Maine Coon is one of the larger breeds of domestic cats up to 18 pounds. He is intelligent, Gentile, but cautious with strangers.
The Manx is a tailless cat with a hard body in spite of mutated backbone. The mutated backbone accounts before tailless. Manx originated on the Isle of Man. It has a long, coarse outer coat and thick undercoat. That a longer front legs gives the appearance of rounded. The Manx has a sweet personality and is a strong hunter.
Another long-haired Persian cat. The Persian has a thick coat, short legs, broad head with large eyes and an appearance of a "push" face. It requires daily brushing and cleaning to avoid health problems. It has a good temperament and makes a good companion.
The Devon Rex's origin dates back to 1960 in England. The Devon Rex has a soft short curly hair, big ears, broad head and an upturned nose. It is short and curly whiskers. It can jump very well because of the long legs and big toes. It can not tolerate extreme temperatures. The Devon Rex is intelligent, very friendly and loves high places.
Last but not least is Siamese. The Siamese cat from Siam (Thailand). The Siamese has a slim, tall, muscular body, triangular head, almond-shaped eyes and a long, thin neck. Her hair is short, shiny and soft and has a sharp color scheme. The Siamese is the most vocal of all breeds and can jump with ease. The Siamese are intelligent and very social.
Each race has its own unique appearance and behavior. As owner, you decide what features are important to you. Whether you choose a cat as above, or a stray cat from an animal shelter, a cat makes a loyal pet, when treated with love and kindness. If you decide you want a purebred, make sure the cat is consistent with the Cat Fanciers' Association standards of authenticity.
